A Couple of Pages From My Sketchbook

Hi all, how is your weekend so far? I decided to take a break from creating art and spend some time to sketch ideas in my sketchbook. I am still working on my “totem animal series”. I have painted close to 10 cute animal illustrations and I don’t think I will stop anytime soon. To those who are unaware, this drawing series is partly inspired by a drawing challenge I participated on Instagram and also by a recent trip to the zoo on my daughter’s birthday earlier this month.

Here are a couple of pages from my sketchbook. A bucketful of sloths and a baby tapir smelling some flowers. Aren’t they cute?

The Three Doodles

Hi all, how is everyone? I didn’t post anything for a couple of days because I had a stressful weekend that involved a trip to the ER, again. A couple of times this month, in fact, once when my daughter was sick with flu and now because my husband was unwell.

I am very tired of all kinds of sickness and this year has been the worse. I do not wish to talk about it, though. It has been a very discouraging month, and year, to be honest, I do hope God shows me some mercy and give us some rest from the awful challenges we have been going through.

I am trying not to complain. Been trying to tell myself there are others in worse situations out there but it has been hard.

Anyway, in good times or bad times, the one thing that has been constant is art. I have never stopped ‘arting’ even when I am pretty much deep within the pit. It’s truly an outlet to calm myself, perhaps the only thing that does not judge me, my situations, or the choices I made, well, apart from God.

So, here are some simple pattern doodles I did throughout the weekend. Nothing outstanding but enough to help me breathed and be “at the moment” when it was so difficult not to focus on the dreadful things.

A New Painting In Progress

Hi all, as you can see I am working on a new painting. However, it’s not complete yet so I can’t show you the whole thing except for this one progress photo:

I am pretty sure you can guess what the subject matter is! I am pretty excited about this new painting because I am trying a new watercolor technique that I just learned recently. I hope it will turn out okay. If it doesn’t, that is okay too 🙂

On personal news, my daughter developed myositis (leg muscles inflammation) due to the influenza. It’s not so serious and she still can walk albeit tiptoeing because it’s painful to stretch her calves. I was thinking to bring her to the pediatrician this evening but changed my mind because her condition seems to be improving. I will see how it goes tomorrow. If she is still complaining of the pain we will have to see the doctor. I hope it’s self-limited and will go away on its own 🙁

Also, I have uploaded two new designs for my stores. You probably have seen the first design because I posted it about a month ago but the second design is new.

Doodle Tree

Geometric Doodle Pattern

I love the simplicity of the second design and I will probably come out with more such designs in the future. That’s all for now. See ya!

Thank you for checking out my post! I hope you like my art and give me a follow 🙂

Cat and Ballerina Doodles

Hi all, no new art from me today. I have been working on my online shops a lot more these days and I apologize if it seems that’s all I posted about now. If you are someone who is making a living online as a marketer you would probably understand that now is the right time to get your online stores ready for the holiday shopping rush. So yeah, that is exactly what I have been doing these days. End of the year is usually the time I make sales the most.

Today, I uploaded a couple of new designs to my shop. The cat doodle and the ballerina doodle. I completed these art pieces sometime in September but have not done anything about it yet, until today. Both of the designs are available in my Redbubble and Creative United online stores.

Pattern Design | Inktober2018 Day #3 Drawing – Leaves!

Hi all, the weekend is almost over in my part of the world and it’s half an hour before midnight. How is your weekend so far? I hope you have a great day. Weekends are the busiest times in the week for me, unlike weekdays where the daily routine is predictable. Yesterday I talked a bit about celebrating my daughter’s birthday. It was a fun but an exhausting day for our family and today is no exception. Like many people, we do our grocery shopping on weekends. After church in the morning, we went to the hypermarket to shop for our essentials. As you can see, we hardly have time to rest. Resting on weekends is a myth LOL.

Anyway, despite my busy day, I managed to squeeze some time to complete this doodle. It is my third day drawing for Inktober2018. I started to draw this a couple of days ago but only managed to complete it today.

Here are the progress photos:

And of course, I used it in my Redbubble shop. It turned out pretty 🙂

It will be available on my CreativeUnited shop sometime soon. Hopefully tomorrow =)

Thank you for checking out my post! I hope you like my art and give me a follow 🙂

Pattern Design | Inktober2018 – Doodle Oodle

Here’s my Inktober 2018 Day 2 entry. I know I am several days behind but I am going to do this challenge on my own pace. I am not using the official prompts but I just enjoy doing my own stuff. A well-known local illustrator advised me to make full use of this drawing challenge. She said instead of just doodling aimlessly, set a goal. Say what do I want to achieve by the end of this month? Say if my goal is to fill up my online store with more products, I need to have more designs. What kind of design? Well, I have set to design patterns. So, make a goal to draw or paint one design a day, and do it the best way I can. If it’s good, use it in my shop. If not, that’s okay. It’s a learning process. By the end of the month, I hope to have at least 25 new artworks to upload to my shop. What she said makes perfect sense!

So here are the progress photos for today’s entry. A simple floral/spiral doodle.

I love the bold lines. They add contrast and dimension to the drawing.

Also, I decided to resurrect my Creative United shop after a friend commented she hopes to buy some of my stuff locally because they are cheaper than overseas POD companies. Initially, I hesitated because uploading designs to CU involve a lot of work (different products require different image sizes and dimensions). However, I give it a go for the benefits of my local fans. So here are some samples of the products with this drawing on them 🙂

Thank you for checking out my post! I hope you like my art and give me a follow 🙂

Pattern Design | My First Inktober 2018 Drawing

Hi all,

For the past couple of days, I have been seeing Steemians posting their Inktober 2018 drawings. And today I want to share with you my first Inktober 2018 doodle. You can find more details about Inktober on this website: Inktober. I tried to participate in this challenge several times but I couldn’t keep up and wasn’t consistent. I hope I can be more productive this year.

So for this first drawing, I didn’t stick to the official prompt but decided to do my own thing. I mentioned in my previous post that I wanted to try my hand on pattern designing. Therefore throughout the month, I will draw mostly pattern stuff. However, I can’t promise if I will use ink as my main medium though 🙂

Once completed, I uploaded the digitally edited doodle to my Redbubble store. I digitally edited the lines to be white instead of black. I really love how nice it turned out. My goal for Inktober 2018 is not so much about making sales from my products but to improve my drawing skill and also my digital editing skill 🙂

Here are the progress photos:

And here are the products with this doodle on them.

Doodle Art | Girl With the Red Umbrella

Just a simple doodle for today. Girl with the red umbrella. I am working on a couple of simple doodle/paintings but I am just posting this one and will post the other one tomorrow. Here’s a beautiful poem by Stacey Renshaw that inspires this drawing 🙂

The Girl With the Red Umbrella

The girl with the red umbrella is hiding her tears as the rain falls heavily and her island home disappears.
The house where she has spent her whole life is seen in the distance and her memories are replayed in an instant.
The girl grips the handle of the red umbrella so tight
as the boat sails sorrowfully by.
The girl protects herself with the red umbrella against the elements of life,
For this was the precious gift given to her by her devoted father
on the very same day he died.

Doodle Art | The Tree and Its Roots

Inktober is coming. First time reading that term? Well, what is Inktober?

Inktober is a month long art challenge created by artist Jake Parker that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online. ~ FAQ Inktober.com

Someone mentioned to me that I am way ahead of others in posting my doodle drawings! It’s not October yet, but I have posted several of my black and white doodles for the past couple of weeks. To be honest, I didn’t do these drawings for Inktober 2019 challenge. I never participated before. Inktober or not I will continue to draw my doodles and post them here 🙂

Today’s piece is a doodle tree. Looks more like an alien tree though LOL.

The idea for this piece came from a book I am currently reading – The Root of Rejection by Joyce Meyer. One of the interesting facts I learned from this book came from a leading Christian physician and counselor, Paul Tournier. Tournier made a surprising observation that a large number of prominent world leaders had one thing in common: they were orphans. And many of these leaders suffered from some form of abuse – emotional, sexual, or physical abuse. This is what Tournier wrote in regards to his observation:

“This is confirmed in numerous studies of high performers. As many as three-fourths of those who become celebrated achievers are estimated to have suffered serious emotional deprivation or hardship in childhood. Because they feel so worthless inside, they will work themselves practically to death trying to have some value. And as a result of that, many of them become successful.”

REJECTION. These people felt rejected. And that sense of rejection is so deeply rooted in them and becomes the fuel that fires their drive and determination to succeed, to prove to the world and themselves that they worth something…

Rejection starts as a single seed that is planted in our lives through different experiences. The seed grows into a tree with roots that are deep. If we are rooted in rejection, what kind of fruits will we bear? Depression, insecurity, a sense of inferiority, self-pity, judgmentalism, negativity and so on.

So hence the doodle of the tree. It makes me question myself what kind of “fruits” do I bear since in humility I do admit I have a root of rejection that grows deep within my soul.

My Flower Doodle Design

I had a bit of lousy day today. I had a migraine. It doesn’t happen frequently these days unlike before I fell sick and had to go through a surgery earlier this year. However, when it happens, it can be very uncomfortable. I try not to complain because my migraine is nothing compares to what one of my dear friends is going through. She has a severe migraine/chronic pain that affects her ability to work as normal people do. Anyway, such is life. It is always unfair but we have to face whatever challenges we have with courage and strength.

I didn’t manage to be online much but when I did have a bit of time, I used it to upload more designs to my Redbubble store. I started to be more active there these days because I decided to close a couple of my local stores (yes, I have several online shops :). I felt like I am stretching myself too thin and I thought it’s better to focus on one store rather than trying to manage several shops. I even research for ways to make my designs better and I am considering to enroll in an online marketing course to better promote myself as an artist.

Here is one of the designs I uploaded to my shop today. I made this doodle several months ago for a doodle tutorial post.
