My little tribute to a very admirable statesman. I completed this painting within 12 hours in between housework and childcare. I just had to do it.
I never met him in person. Just read about him in the news and watched his speeches on Youtube.
In this short period he led us, he showed us what it meant to be a true servant to the people of Sarawak. He showed us what a politician should be.
He said, “You listen to me. I represent Sarawak. “I am Adenan Satem, and I keep my promises.”
In the past couple of years since he took oath to be the Sarawak CM, he kept his promises to the people of Sarawak.
I am no eloquent person but to sum it up let me quote Maya Angelou – “At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.”
Tok Nan made me feel like there is a hope for a better Sarawak. A place where my children can grow without fear of being judged or mistreated for being of certain race or religion.
Thank you for your service, Adenan Satem, rest well now, sir. I pray that God will give comfort to your loved ones you left behind. I pray too for a future CM who will share and carry the same vision as yours.
